I wrote the letter to a ghost
To find out his dreams and his hopes
And how he could walk through the walls
That would’ve been holding me back all along

He took out a pen and a page
He wrote in invisible ink
But the meaning would still stay as grave
He could see through my skin and my veins

He signed it, “sincerely undecored“
“I’ll tell you in person instead“
So he show up, well halfway I guess
And he opened his mouth and he said:

“We don’t need somebody to hold us
We don’t need somebody who cares
We don’t need a shelter to come to
When the world turned its back on our fears“

I sat and stare at the rave
Like the monster had taken my brain
He held out his whisper of hand
The two of us faded away

We drifted out into the fog
Looking for something to haunt
When no one showed up we realized
We’ve been haunting ourselves the whole time

We gave up and headed indoors
The old haunted house by the shore
When the specter turned on all the lights
All his friends jumped and yelled out surprise
